The January meeting of Wheatley Local History Group took place at the Village Hall in South Wheatley on Monday 13th January, instead of the planned date of Monday 20th January. This change was due to circumstances beyond the group’s control. Members on the mailing list were informed of this change, but the group extends its apologies to anyone who went to the Village Hall on the wrong day.
If you are interested in hearing about future meetings but are not currently a member, contact Dee (details below) to be added to the mailing list.
The talk, delivered by Stephen Flinders, explored how the great garden cemeteries came into existence during the early 19th century after a national scandal regarding burials. It was a fascinating and informative morning.
