Town Hall Live

by | 30 July 2023 | Gainsborough, Music

Canadian artist Julian Taylor, fresh from an appearance at this year’s Cambridge Folk Festival, headlines Town Hall Live, Kirton in Lindsey on Friday 4th August.

Toronto-based Julian has been part of the musical fabric and landscape of Canada for over two decades, building an unimpeachable reputation. Julian’s last two albums, ‘The Ridge’ and ‘Beyond the Reservation’, have seen him gain a worldwide audience.

On the latter, themes of resilience, courage and strength are prevalent in every carefully chosen lyric. In it he continues to mine his personal story and identity as a coloured man of Mohawk and West Indian heritage. It strikes a balance between sparse and complex, with songs delivered with a rich and warm baritone voice.

Julian’s songs are lyrically and sonically rich. He is an explosive and captivating performer taking the audience on an emotional journey with a mixture of joy and sadness.

He will be joined by his band for his performance in Kirton.

Support comes from Michele Stodart. Michele is best known as the bassist, vocalist and co-songwriter of the double-platinum-selling band The Magic Numbers. It has become the norm for many people at her solo concerts to leave speechless.

Tickets for the concert are priced at £15.00 and can be obtained from Brian on 01652 649230 or brianchudley@btinternet.com, from Morrisons Daily in Kirton or at www.wegottickets.com.

THL then takes a short break before welcoming one of America’s greatest songwriters Rod Picott to the town on Friday 29th September.

They then embark on a full autumn programme on Friday 20th October with a performance from Dale Storr followed by concerts from Lauren and The Northern Cowboys on Saturday 4th November, Daniel Rodriguez on Friday 17th November and The Robbie Cavanagh Band on Saturday 9th December.
