North Leverton Windmill is once again hosting its Annual Family Fun Weekend on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th September. The event is open to the public from 12.00pm both days. Parking is free and there is ample space. Entrance for visitors is £2.50 for over 18s (under 18s are free but must be accompanied by a responsible adult).

The Windmill will be open and the if the wind is blowing the sails will be turning. There is plenty on offer including the Visitor Centre, Railway Hut café and kids games in Mill Yard, Static Birds of Prey Display, Sip and Create, more kids entertainment in the event field, and local artisan food and drink stalls (licenced bar by The Bees Knees).

They also welcome fur babies as long as they are on a lead and you clean up after them. To keep them entertained, they have a dog scurry on both days, and of course the fun dog show (Saturday only – judging at 2.30pm). The are over 30 stalls booked for the craft market, Christmas is not too far away – did we really just say that?

Now an integral part of the weekend is WHEELS@THEWINDMILL, with cars, trucks, tractors, motorbikes (basically if it has wheels it is welcome). Sunday is competition day – judging will take place during the afternoon and prizes presented before the weekend closes at 4.00pm on Sunday. It’s £5.00 for anything with more than two wheels and £3.00 for anything with two wheels (no additional entrance fee for the drivers / passengers. Visit on Saturday, keep your wristband on and get in for free on Sunday).

Local talent will be on stage on Saturday Afternoon from 4.30pm (ish). MUSIC@THEMILL will open with Big Wayne’s Blues Experience, and then don’t miss Out of The Storm, The Johnny Forgottens and Fused all interspersed with DJ Jono on the decks.

The organisers don’t make the weekend, you do, so go along, take a chair or blanket, a smile and have fun.

All funds raised go to North Leverton Windmill Charitable Trust for the upkeep and maintenance of the Windmill and grounds. This year’s project is to upgrade the welfare facilities on site. They have applied for planning permission to remove the old pre-fab garage and replace it with a fit for purpose building to include accessible toilets and baby changing facilities along with some great space. They can make it happen with your support.
