Local author pens villages’ WWII stories

by | 21 March 2020 | Gainsborough, Heritage

Local historian David Seymour is writing the story of the involvement of people from Misterton and West Stockwith in World War II. The two-volume account will cover, first Misterton and West Stockwith in the 1930s and then how the villages fared in the early years of the war. The second book covers civil defence (‘Dad’s Army’) wartime restrictions, local casualties in the war at sea, the war in the air, and the final push to take Germany. Each contains many photographs, newspaper reports, and the memories of local people.

The books are due out in April/May. Each book is £12.00 — but there’s a special pre-publication offer of both books for £20.00 Contact David to place your order: 9 Station Street, Misterton DN10 4BY, call 01427 890936 or 07952 544604, or email seymoursam@hotmail.com.
