With the arrival of spring, Lindsey u3a has lots of plans for talks, group activities, visits, theatre trips, a holiday and a lunch.

On 2nd April the ‘Theatre’ group is off to see ‘Ghost the Musical’. Look out for information about the group’s Quiz on 10th April, from 2.00pm to 4.00pm at Welton Village Hall. The ‘Architecture’ group will be visiting Lincoln Cathedral for a Cathedral Glass Tour on 17th April and a guided tour of Brigg Heritage Centre has been arranged for 8th May.

The ‘Visits’ group is off to Saltaire World Heritage Site on 30th April, plus a coach trip has been organised to Bridlington for a talk / tour of the RNLI boathouse on 3rd June. The ‘Garden Group’ is planning an excursion to Sandringham on 18th June and a holiday to Newcastle and Northumbria has been arranged for 7th July.

The u3a’s annual Summer Lunch has been booked at Hemswell Court on 18th July so there’s lots happening.

See www.lindseyu3a.org.uk to see the A-Z of activities and interest groups on offer. You can join in with as much or as little as you like.

Lindsey u3a meets at Welton Village Hall usually on the first Thursday of the month. You are invited with no obligation to a meeting. Doors open at 9.30am for tea / coffee followed by a speaker at 10.30am. On 3rd April Joy Wood will be talking about her ‘Journey from Nursing to Author’. She worked as a nurse for 40 years but has never looked back since she started writing. She credits her morning walks on Cleethorpes seafront for giving her the ideas for her novels.

The speaker on 15th May will be Deborah Yarwood from St Barnabas Hospice, well known for its work to support and comfort patients, family members and loved ones at the most difficult of times. Her talk, entitled ‘All you wanted to know about St Barnabas Hospice but were afraid to ask’, will reveal many aspects of the organisation which you may not have considered.

u3a members can also join various online talks, workshops and courses. You can find out more from www.u3a.org.uk.

If you can’t attend a general meeting, join u3a members at the ‘Gardeners’ Retreat’ tearoom at Scothern Nurseries for a cuppa and a chat at 10.15am on the fourth Thursday of the month. The next coffee morning will take place on 24th April. Whether you’re a newcomer wanting to know more about Lindsey u3a or if you’re already a member and just fancy a cuppa, maybe a scone and a chat, do go along. Everyone is welcome.
