New Year is traditionally the time for life-enhancing resolutions, so why not consider exploring Lindsey u3a? Part of a worldwide organisation for those no longer in full-time employment, Lindsey u3a offers opportunities for lifelong learning and social connection.
For an annual fee of £17.00, members can attend monthly meetings featuring a variety of entertaining and enlightening speakers, and join any of the A-Z interest groups listed at www.lindseyu3a.org.uk.
Lindsey u3a holds its meetings at Welton Village Hall, typically on the first Thursday of the month (although the first meeting of 2025 will be on Thursday 9th January). Visitors are welcome to attend with no obligation. Doors open at 9.45am for tea and coffee, followed by the speaker at 10.30am. First-time visitors should inform someone at reception, and one of the friendly greeters will be happy to show them around and answer any questions.
At this meeting, Nancy Appleyard will deliver a talk entitled ‘Art or Artful’. With a career in Communication Studies at Lincoln College and Grantham College, Nancy brings a wealth of experience in communication and personal development. She has also lectured to cruise ship audiences and various organisations across the East Midlands.
The speaker for Thursday 6th February will be Steve Barclay, who will entertain with a talk titled ‘Comedy Heroes’. A comic entertainer who has performed at theatres nationwide, Steve is well-known for his pantomime dame roles, having played various characters for seven seasons at Lincoln’s Theatre Royal.
For those unable to attend the general meetings, Lindsey u3a also hosts a coffee morning at the Gardeners’ Retreat tearoom at Scothern Nurseries on the fourth Thursday of each month at 10.15am. The next coffee morning will be on Thursday 23rd January. This is a great opportunity for newcomers to learn more about Lindsey u3a or for current members to enjoy a chat over a cuppa – perhaps with a scone!
Everyone is welcome.
