Sugar was taken to RSPCA Doncaster, Rotherham and District Branch after she was found straying at the back of a row of shops in Doncaster. Clearly in distress and a lot of pain, Sugar had been suffering with a large open wound and significant swelling on her front leg. Her bones were exposed. read more
There is still no indication of when organisers can hold their charity events at the Blues Club Gainsborough again. It may be December before they can have a full capacity audience, which they need to cover their costs with some of their acts. Unfortunately, it is not financially viable with the room only a third of capacity. read more
Beckingham Bowls Club members and Beckingham villagers were very sad to learn of the death of Shirley Wilson, who passed away peacefully on 29th June. Shirley was a playing member of the club for many years and was Social Secretary until she retired from this position in 2013. read more
The committee at Gainsborough and District Flower Club hope all members are staying safe and well in this difficult time. Unfortunately, after considering everything carefully, the Government and NAFAS guidelines and the well-being of members, the committee felt it best to cancel all events and club nights until the New Year, when they will review the situation again and be in touch. read more
All being well and current restrictions allowing, the Kirton in Lindsey Society intends to start its regular meetings on Tuesday 22nd September. It will be their brief AGM followed by a ‘hot off the press’ talk ‘Inside Jenny’s Mystery Box’ generated by a discovery made by one of their members, at the back of her spare bedroom aka ‘store room’, during lockdown tidying up. More Kirton gems have been discovered including photos and documents, Martin Hollingsworth will give the presentation. read more
The Gainsborough Heritage Centre is still facing the uncertainty, of when it can reopen. Exhibits and artefacts lay behind closed doors waiting for the day when they can welcome visitors once again. The effects of this terrible pandemic, which is seeing businesses and attractions close and people struggling, is horrible. This is history in the making. read more
