Retford’s foremost art collective, Artempo, have a new exhibition for the new year, inspired by the ancient natural structures of Creswell Crags. ‘Echoes from the Past’ will be open from Saturday 2nd February to 28th April at Creswell Crags.
The group has spent many months, absorbing and distilling the rarity of storytelling within Creswell Crags, drawn from the powerful structures hewn through time, this natural beauty has been captured by some of the counties most talented artists. Each member of Artempo draws upon their unique vision and practice, creating paintings, drawings, prints, ceramics and textile, culminating in a striking and often intriguing exhibition.
Artempo meet each month to support and discuss their diverse work practice, sharing knowledge and skills. The collective has been exhibiting across the UK for the last six years, and individually for many more. Their aim is to share as much of their work and energy with as many people as they can, with group inclusive master-class workshops, commissions and works for local charities, the collective’s socially conscious ethos is to be supported and applauded.
They will run a free children’s arty activity at workshop drop-ins on 18th and 21st February and 15th and 18th April. These take place from 10.00am to 12.00pm and 1.00pm to 3.00pm at Creswell Crags. There is no need to book.
