Garden visitors spoilt for choice

Visiting gardens in the height of summer is becoming something of an institution, and in July there are lots open locally, including:

East Markham Gardens
Church Street, East Markham, NG22 0SA
Sunday 1st July, 1.00pm to 5.00pm
Four gardens in the village of East Markham situated in the proximity of the village church. Including a lovely cottage garden, a large country garden with beautiful views, an exotic garden and a spring/summer garden. Some wheelchair access, plants for sale, homemade teas.

National Holocaust Centre and Museum
Laxton, NG22 0PA,
Sundays 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th July, 10.00am to 4.30pm
A memorial garden, planted with over 1,200 highly scented white roses many of them dedicated by Holocaust survivors and their families. Museum open, separate charge. Wheelchair access, dog friendly, parking, homemade refreshments.

Clumber Park Walled Kitchen Garden
Clumber Park, Worksop, S80 3AZ
Saturday 14th July, 10.00am to 5.00pm
This historic, famous four acre walled kitchen garden opens for the NGS once a year. Featuring 400-foot double herbaceous borders, 450-foot glasshouse, old varieties of vegetables and fruit, bring a picnic! Wheelchair access, dog friendly, plants for sale, parking, homemade teas.

Rhubarb Farm
Hardwick Street, Langwith, Mansfield, NG20 9DR
Sunday 15th July, 10.00am to 4.30pm
Two-acre, social enterprise garden offering visitors to see gardening for mental health and wellbeing in action, meet the volunteers who come to gain skills and confidence. Timed tours throughout the day. Some wheelchair access, plants for sale, parking, homemade teas.

The Elms
Main Street, North Leverton DN22 0AR
Sunday 29th July, 1.00pm to 5.00pm
A very different garden, exotic palms, bamboos and bananas planted to evoke memories of holiday destinations. Peaceful and calming, the garden is an extension of the living space. Some wheelchair access, plants for sale, parking, homemade teas.

5A High Street
Sutton on Trent, Newark, NG23 6QA
Sunday 29th July, 12.00pm to 5.00pm
Trees form the frame for this plantsman’s garden, ponds run through the area, 600 named plants including 100 types of fern. Ornamental grass borders and succulents together with colourful herbaceous borders.
Plants for sale, homemade teas.

Norwood
Carlton Lane, Sutton on Trent, Newark, NG23 6PH
Sunday 29th July, 12.00pm to 5.00pm
New Garden for 2018. Combined with 5A High Street. Quirky oriental themed garden developed over 35 years featuring ferns, palms and native/non native plants. Explore the cave! Plants for sale, homemade teas.

Lodge Mount

Sunday 29th July, 1.00pm to 5.00pm
A garden specifically designed to open for the NGS to raise money for cancer charities. Half acre, organic vegetable and fruit garden with orchard. Clematis, roses and climbers create peace and tranquility. Dog friendly, parking, plants for sale, homemade teas.
