Doncaster Spanish Society will meet on Thursday 20th March from 7.00pm to 9.00pm, when Professor Philip Swanson of the University of Sheffield will give a talk on The Argentine Gaucho in Literature, History and Culture.
Professor Swanson will introduce some of the great works of literature that have immortalised the gaucho. He will also explore the legacy of the gauchos in Argentine history, politics, and culture, as well as their connections to tango, the urban gangster, Peronism, nationalism, and populism. The talk will be delivered in both English and Spanish.
Please note that meetings are now held at Doncaster Town Moor Golf Club, Bawtry Road, Belle Vue Way, DN4 5HU. Parking is available on-site. Drinks can be purchased at the bar, and the society will provide snacks. Entry for non-members is £4.00.
