In a world where divisions seem to grow wider, some partnerships remain steadfast in harmony. The viola, often accompanied by the piano, creates a pairing where the piano’s wide range and harmonic support perfectly complement the viola’s rich, mellower tones. Together, they form a musical congruity that embodies concord.
Toby Cook (viola) and Victor Lim (piano) will soon perform for the Scunthorpe and North Lincolnshire Concert Society. Toby Cook is an internationally acclaimed soloist and chamber musician, having performed at venues such as Kings Place London, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, and Philharmonie Berlin. A Tillett Trust and Villa Musica artist, Toby is also the winner of the Małopolska competition and currently studies with Lawrence Power at Zurich University of Arts.
Victor Lim is celebrated as a pianist with ‘great possibilities of nuance and perfect flexibility’ (Revista Arta). Known for his versatility and curiosity across genres, his repertoire spans from Rameau to Kapustin.
Victor has recently recorded Graham Fitkin’s Granite with the BBC Philharmonic and performed with Manchester Collective and Manchester Camerata.
The concert takes place on Friday 7th February at 7.30pm at Outwood Academy Foxhills, Foxhills Road, Scunthorpe DN15 8LJ. Tickets are priced at £18.00, and children or students can attend for free when accompanied by an adult.
