Worksop and District u3a’s October meeting featured a talk by Gillian Squires, who shared insights into the Newcastle Mausoleum in Milton. She presented the history of the Milton Mausoleum, a magnificent classical structure completed in 1833. This impressive building, with its domed tower, was designed by Sir Robert Smirke for the 4th Duke of Newcastle as a mausoleum for his wife, who passed away shortly after giving birth to twins.
Gillian, chair of the Friends of the Milton Mausoleum, delivered a fascinating talk on this historic building, located close by.
The December meeting will be the annual Christmas Party, held at Carlton Civic Centre on Thursday 19th December, from 1.30pm to 3.30pm. There will be prizes for the best Christmas hat and jumper, along with music, a bar, and other prizes. The u3a Singing for Pleasure group will lead a Christmas sing-along, and a traditional buffet will be provided by Nanna P’s Bespoke Catering.
