Married with three children, Hayley Smith has lived and worked in the Worksop area all her life. Two years ago, she was discovered off the slush pile and awarded a four-book deal by Bookouture (Hachette UK). Locally, Hayley has been involved in the community, organising gigs and events, including the Whitwell Festival of Music.

Her third psychological thriller, The Childminder, was released recently and is set locally.

Her first two novels, The Perfect Girlfriend and Such a Loving Couple, reached the Number One spot in Amazon’s Psychological Fiction category and have remained high in the charts since then.

The Childminder

Each Monday evening, I look after my daughter Coralie and four other kids from her school. We go to the park when it’s sunny and snuggle on the sofa reading books when it rains. Tuesday to Friday, the other parents take them. It’s perfect, a circle of free childcare, filled with fun and friendship for our children.

But this morning, we all received an anonymous note. And now I’m terrified. ‘I know your darkest secrets,’ it says. ‘None of you are what you seem. How could you have trusted each other with your children?’

My blood runs ice-cold. I’ve hidden my darkest secret for years and can never reveal it. And all the other parents must have secrets too…

A totally gripping psychological thriller with twists, turns, and short chapters for easy reading, perfect for fans of Freida McFadden, K.L. Slater, and Lisa Jewell.
