All are warmly invited to the Evensong Priory Remembrance Service on Remembrance Sunday, 10th November, 6.00pm at Worksop Priory (S80 2BU).
Uniformed organisations, veterans, and bereaved families and friends of service personnel are especially welcome to attend this service, where the fallen will be remembered, thanks will be given for freedom, and prayers will be offered for peace.
The service will last around an hour. Parking is available on the West Front of the Priory. Facilities include toilets and an induction loop for hearing devices. Although the service will be livestreamed, the congregation will not be shown.
Evensong, the evening sung prayer of the Christian Church, is centuries old and known for its beauty. It will be immediately followed by Benediction, during which the Blessed Sacrament is raised in blessing while the congregation remains seated.
The service will include hymns and anthems, quiet moments for reflection and prayer. There is no obligation for anyone to actively participate, but all are encouraged to rest in the peaceful atmosphere of the Priory and reflect.
Attendees are advised to dress warmly, as the building can remain cool despite the heating. Badges are recommended instead of full uniform.
