Summer visits

by | 15 October 2024 | Retford, Support Group

This summer, members of the Wednesday Group have enjoyed several extra outings in addition to their regular Wednesday meetings.

A highlight was the visit to the Kilton Feel Good Memory Group, where afternoon tea in a lovely environment, along with entertainment, dancing, and good company, will be long remembered. Retford Library also hosted excellent sessions of Songs and Scones, featuring fantastic musicians and delightful cream teas.

The Dukeries Ukeries ukulele group at the library, accompanied by more scones, was another joyous event. Some members attended the poetry café, where they enjoyed listening to and reading poems. The next Poetry Café is on 30th September; places can be booked at the library.

Although summer visits are almost over, the music will continue. The group is regularly entertained by the Retford Ukulele Group, Littleborough Skifflers, Jessica Brett, Dave and Sandra, and Frank Bulman.

These musicians are very popular with the group, and, it seems, the group is equally popular with them. The performers express how much they enjoy their time with the group, leading to anticipated long and happy collaborations.

For those who care for someone with dementia, have a diagnosis themselves, or are interested in learning more about the Wednesday Group, please get in touch. Contact Jan on 01777 709974 or 07969 180067, or email janwilliamson133@gmail.com for the latest updates and current availability. While there is currently a waiting list, efforts are being made to accommodate more people. Each session costs £10.00, which includes lunch, and the first visit is free!
