Welcoming Retford’s new mayor

by | 13 July 2024 | Notice, Retford

The Charter Trustees of East Retford have welcomed the new Mayor of Retford for 2024-25, Councillor David Naylor.

Councillor Naylor has been a district councillor for a little over a year now and has been the deputy town mayor of Retford.

He has worked in the hospitality industry since the age of 18 and has a BA Honours degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the Open University.

Originally born in West Yorkshire, he grew up in the village of Grove just outside Retford and then moved to Scotland, where his family are from, when he was 18. After living in and around Edinburgh for 10 years, he travelled to New Zealand for a year as well as living in Spain, where he also has family.

Just after the pandemic, he decided to come back to the UK and Retford to stand as a councillor. Outside of politics and work, he enjoys reading and nature. In this year as Mayor, he hopes to connect with as many local residents as possible, bringing the public closer to the Mayor. He is also looking forward to supporting Retford charities.
