The girls are back in Town!

Ollerton Town Football Club now have their very first junior girls’ team! In a milestone for the club, a new U11 girls’ team has been formed and will be competing in the NGLFL next season.

With over 15 girls registered and still growing, it is clear the demand for female football within the area is high. As part of the club ethos, bringing affordable, safe and enjoyable football to the female community within Ollerton and surrounding areas is high on the agenda, with plans in place to provide more, for all age groups. The FA-approved Weetabix Wildcats, Squad Girls and Snickers Just Play sessions will be starting in the next few weeks, opening female friendly football for all ages within the community on a Friday night.

The Club also wants to capture successes of the past whilst focusing on the future and build a strong female first team, with ambitions of starting next year. The last ladies team sadly folded due to lack of coaches. The club has already built a partnership with the charity #HerGameToo, proving its commitment to providing equality through football.

With plans in place to host tournaments, provide girls coaching in local schools and introduce more female coaches through partnership with Active4Today, there is plenty to be excited about for the future of female football at Ollerton Town FC.

Anyone interested in becoming a coach, joining a team, just having a kick about, or being involved in any way can contact the Club on social media or contact the Club’s girls coach, John Corfield on 07850 595565.

Up The Town!
