The days are getting longer and warmer and the grass is growing. At Retford Cricket Club they’ve already started preparing their ground for the nearing season, and have re-opened the Clubhouse, all with the help of their volunteer members.
After a series of very successful indoor nets training sessions, the Club has come alive with outdoor training. In a thriving environment Ladies and Juniors train on a Friday evening from 6.00pm at the Club’s grounds by Morrisons, and Seniors train on a Thursday from 6.00pm.
Ladies! The Club are keen to get more of you playing cricket, whether experienced or new. They want to field Women’s teams in local leagues and competitions. Why not go down on a Friday evening and introduce yourselves; take your friends and family! They’ll take it from there. Matches take place at different grounds, so you get to visit some beautiful parts of the region. If needed, lifts can be arranged.
They’re also offering introduction sessions to youngsters new to cricket from about five years old. Just go down on Friday evenings where you’ll be really welcome. They offer a fun, safe environment.
This month, as the season looms, they’re hosting a few pre-season friendly matches against local clubs. You’re most welcome to go along, watch and enjoy the atmosphere. They do like to think they have the best beer garden in Retford courtesy of their fully licenced bar, offering Associate membership and discounts.
They also welcome their new Safeguarding Officer, Kait King. She comes with loads of experience in the field to help keep the club safe. Like her predecessor, Kait is mum and wife to cricketers, helping maintain Retford Cricket Club as the family club.
