Last year was an amazing and successful year at Crossroads Care Rotherham, which has been based in Rotherham for 35 years, supporting unpaid carers through a range of services.
Some of the year’s achievements have been: finalists in the Great British Care Awards for Best Care Team; Best Outside Liaison; Best Training and Development; and Best Non-Profit Organisation in the Business Awards.
They have maintained Kite Mark plus for their volunteering services alongside Silver Be Well at Work Accreditation.
Crossroads Care Rotherham has been rated Outstanding since 2019 by CQC for Regulated Care Services and has also been rated excellent by Rotherham Borough Council’s annual audit. They hold ISO 9001 Quality Accreditation and have done so for over 15 years.
The group has recently been awarded the Lottery Reaching Communities funding for the Carers Navigation and Support Service. The funds will support carers for the next three years, offering groups and therapies in the community.
They have also secured funding for carers who have been bereaved. These groups offer much needed support through such difficult times. In December they opened a day centre for people with dementia.
There is also a successful charity / coffee shop in Rotherham which is due to be relocated in early January 2024 to 29 Bridge Gate.
Many of Crossroads’ carer services rely heavily on volunteers; the group simply could not operate without them. There are new volunteer opportunities for the following: carers groups in Kimberworth Park, Dinnington and Kiveton Park; telephone befriending based from home; and day centre on Tuesdays at Bradmarsh Industrial Estate where the cared for person can engage with others and do fun activities.
Being a volunteer brings with it many positives such as reducing isolation, learning new skills, making new friends, and enhancing your CV. For more information please call Crossroads’ Volunteer Coordinators on 01709 360272.
