In the sad absence of Retford Charter Day this year, you are still invited to watch the iconic Retford Lions Club’s duck races and attend their Big Help Out Event.
Join them on Bank Holiday Monday 8th May from 11.00am to 4.00pm in Kings Park, Retford.
Celebrate the amazing work of local volunteers and meet the local charities and community groups who would love your support. This is an opportunity for charities and service agencies to show what they do and suggest how new volunteers could help them. Signing up to help them would help so much.
Helping others is generally a natural characteristic of human life but without any helpers and volunteers all our lives would be quite different. There is all sorts of volunteer help that goes on that we probably just take for granted.
Groups’ presentations will all be spread about in the lower meadow field and around the performance stage, where activities will also take place. You’re sure to learn something new and be entertained.
The duck races will take place at their usual times – 2.45pm for the red (corporate) race and the main public yellow race at 3.00pm will be significant.
Yellow ducks will be on sale on Saturday 29thApril, Thursday 4th, Friday 5th and Saturday 6th May from a market stall in the Square. On Sunday 7th May, ducks will be sold from in front of the Town Hall. Prizes for the winning ducks will, as usual, be £200 for the winner with runner up prizes of £100 and £50. All moneys go towards Retford Lions Club’s charitable work and prizes are available for the winning ducks.
There is a warm invitation from hosts Retford Lions Club for organisations to set up a presentation right up until the day before the event. Please contact retford.lions@gmail.com for more information.
