Christmas is a special time of year and the Worksop Christian Centre, Life, is appealing to the good people of Worksop and surrounding area to become involved in the Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Appeal 2021 and fill a shoebox for a child in need somewhere in the world. It may be the only gift they receive. If you are or have already been involved, they thank you.
Free pre-printed shoeboxes with a leaflet of what and what not to pack is available from Worksop Christian Centre Life, Vicars Walk, Worksop, from Monday to Friday (except Thursday) between the hours of 10.00am and 3.00pm. The National Collection Week for this year’s appeal is 15th to 22nd November. A donation of £5.00 per box is requested to cover that cost of administration and onwards transportation and can be made online at: www.samaritans-purse.org.uk. If you do not have access to the internet, you can use the packing leaflet which is designed to accept your donation and is to be placed inside your shoebox.
Please be mindful when packing your shoebox, there are a few things you should not do:
• Remove price labels but not safety labels
• Leave pens / pencils in the packets they are purchased in, do not put individual pens / pencils in your shoebox
• If you purchased items on a card, such as hair clips / slides, leave them on the card do not remove them
• Items purchased in plastic wrap, such as a toothbrush, are not to be removed from their wrapping, this also applies to items purchased in cellophane / plastic packets
• Do not include sweets or toothpaste in your shoebox
• Do not put inappropriate items in your shoebox or items that have been used
Please use only pre-printed shoeboxes or those obtained from a Shoe Shop, other boxes are not acceptable, as the shoeboxes are packed into larger cartons, which hold 12 shoeboxes, for onward transportation.
