Events and Local Groups updates from Gainsborough Life

As always, your Gainsborough Life magazine is full of details of local events and local group meetings but with the challenging times we’re experiencing lots of these are being cancelled. Everything in recent magazines was accurate at the time of going to print, but these are the updates we have received about confirmed changes.

We’ll keep updating this list as we’re made aware of changes and cancellations.

  • Gainsborough Model Railway will not be open at Easter
  • Gainsborough Choral Society’s concert on Saturday 28th March is cancelled
  • Scunthorpe Concert Band have had to cancel rehearsals and the concert in Kirton in Lindsey Town Hall on 25th May
  • In Misterton, the Parish Church will be open every day (as usual) for people to go in for some peace and quiet, time for reflection, light a candle in memory of someone, to pray for the difficult times we re finding ourselves in, and a sanctuary
  • Morton Tea Dances have been cancelled in April and May
  • Gainsborough and District Flower Club have decided to cancel all future club nights with effect from 26th March until further notice.   Please note that the Emerald Anniversary Dinner on 13th May has also been postponed
  • Town Hall Live in Kirton-in-Lindsey have cancelled their concerts on 20th March, 3rd April, 25th April and 29th May
  • Lea WI are cancelling their AGM meeting on 2nd April
  • Daffodil Delight in Kirton in Lindsey Town Hall on Saturday 4th April is cancelled
  • Nottinghamshire County Show on 9th and 10th May has been cancelled
  • All Slimming World groups have been cancelled
  • Gainsborough Community and Armed Forces Day on 28th June is cancelled
  • Charity Nights at The Blues Club are cancelled until the end of May
  • The Arts Society Gainsborough and District’s lectures on 2nd April and 7th May have been postponed
  • Heritage mornings at Gainsborough United Reformed Church are cancelled for the forseeable future
  • The Old Nick Theatre in Gainsborough is closed until further notice
  • Trinity Arts Centre in Gainsborough is closed until further notice
  • The West Lindsey May Churches Festival 2020 is cancelled – save the dates for 2021, 8th-9th May and 15th-16th May
  • The St Barnabas Hospice Colour Dash Fest 2020 has been cancelled
  • The Lincolnshire Show 2020 has been cancelled
  • Lincoln BIG Mini Day on 18th April has been cancelled
  • Voluntary Centre Services are busy coordinating the local community response to Covid19 – to get involved see https://voluntarycentreservices.org.uk/community-activity-and-volunteering-information-coronavirus-response/
  • The Lincoln branch of Lincolnshire Family History Society’s meetings up to and including August 2020 have been cancelled. The planned Society AGM on 6th June is postponed and the annual outing to Bomber Command on 12th September is also cancelled
  • The National Garden Scheme has closed all garden openings until further notice
  • Retford District MS Family Support Group activities and events are suspended until further notice. Anyone affected by MS and in need of advice please contact Retford@mssociety.org.uk and they will see if they can help
  • Forest Live, the summer concert series presented by Forestry England, where acts perform in spectacular woodland locations around the country has been cancelled.
