by | 1 September 2019 | Community Event, Community Focus, Rotherham

This year, Rotherham Show celebrates its 40th anniversary and everyone is invited to this extra special occasion in the beautiful grounds of Clifton Park. A combination of new attractions and traditional favourites will be on offer at Rotherham Show — still the biggest free-to-enter show in the North of England.

Taking place on the weekend of 7th and 8th September, the show promises to be jam-packed with entertainment and fun for all the family!

New for this year is the 40th Anniversary Celebration stage with artists, performers and musicians from Rotherham and around the world joining the party. Featuring Mohammad Reza Mortazavi, with the sounds of traditional Persian hand drums, Indian Carnatic violinist, Nandini Muthuswamy performing classical Indian melodies, and Rhodri Davies, a Welsh harpist will bring a blend of contemporary compositions and improvisation.

A children and family zone will be in the Circus Village with the big top, outdoor performance area and festival zones. Suitable for all ages, the show features theatre performances, two trapezes, acrobats and a puppet called Robyn. The Retro Marquee returns with stalls and music throughout both days from the Moonshiners, Brandon Walton, Miss Trixie Holiday and Jake Alex Brown. Also, a new multi-sensory installation where audiences can view and interact with bee hives in Bees! The Colony.

Live music will feature the Diversity Festival, brass bands and the Music Marquee hosting performances from bands such as Full Moon Frieda, Handsome Dan and the Mavericks, Loaded, Mr Tea and the Minions, Said the Maiden, Swan Vesta Social Club and Kasai Masai.

All the traditional Rotherham Show favourites return from the dog show to Made In Rotherham with various competition classes for vegetables, flowers, crafts and baking. The vintage vehicle rally returns as well as the emergency services and re-enactment displays, numerous stalls, fairground rides and refreshment vendors.
