St Barnabas Hospice re-launch services

by | 1 August 2018 | Gainsborough, Local Charity

Without wanting to sound like too much of a British stereotype, I think I can only begin this month, by mentioning the weather… it’s fair to say that at the time of writing this, summer has well a truly arrived!  We struck gold with the sunshine on the day of our Vintage Coffee Morning, which I hope was enjoyed by all those who attended. We raised over £100, which will go toward funding that £11 million it takes to run our services annually, so I would like to thank everyone who came and gave so generously. Special thanks also go to GMC Sing from the Heart, who were kind enough to provide fabulous entertainment for the morning, performing classics that ranged from The Beatles, all the way through to ABBA!

I am also extremely excited to announce that we are re-launching the services that we provide from St Barnabas, Gainsborough. We will be providing weekly Day Therapy days once again, and we are hoping engage with the local community, to really spread the word about the extensive range of services we can offer to those living with life-limiting or terminal illnesses.

To mark this re-launch, we are holding an Open Day, which will take place between 10.00am to 3.00pm on Thursday 9th August. This will offer you a chance to come and take those first few steps through the door, and really explore the options that are out there once you, or someone you love, have been diagnosed with a life-limiting or terminal illness. We will be giving you the chance try a taster session of complementary therapies such as reiki, and our clinical staff will be on hand to host an informative, but accessible Q and A.

We would love to see as many of you there as possible, and we hope this offers you a chance to answer any of those questions you might have. If you would like any further information, please contact ella.beale@stbarnabashospice.co.uk.

Finally, we are looking for leaflet distributors for Gainsborough and the surrounding areas. This would mostly just be a service required when we have upcoming events. If you think you could volunteer some of your time to post as little, or as many, leaflets as you like — please get in touch.

Thanks again, Ella Beale
