The meeting of The Arts Society Dukeries on Wednesday 6th February, will be a lecture by Anthea Streeter on ‘Dame Zaha Hadid’. Before her untimely death in 2016, Dame Zaha Hadid was one of the most distinguished architects in the world. She was also a talented designer. read more

Retford’s foremost art collective, Artempo, have a new exhibition for the new year, inspired by the ancient natural structures of Creswell Crags. ‘Echoes from the Past’ will be open from Saturday 2nd February to 28th April at Creswell Crags. read more

2018 was a busy and pleasant year for Bassetlaw Cardiac Support Group and members enjoyed theatre trips, days out by coach and a river trip with afternoon tea. At their meeting on Friday 4th January (the AGM), a report was read out, regarding the busy year in 2018 and, sadly, the resignation of chairman Chris Coldwell. read more

On Wednesday 6th February Les Francophiles de Tickhill welcome Neil Robson from Bessacarr, who will present an illustrated talk on a WWII RAF crash site near Caen in Normandy. This site is special to Neil, as it was his uncle who perished there. read more

Bridge players of all levels of experience are invited to Retford Bridge Club on Tuesday 29th January, for a relaxed game of duplicate bridge. A limited number of hands will be played and there will be a coffee break of about 15 minutes. No partner is required as one will be found on the evening if you come alone. read more

Tickhill Film Society (TFS) would like to welcome everyone to their new season starting in February 2019. They will be showing feature-length films in Tickhill Parish Room on the third and fourth Wednesdays of the month, with doors opening at 6.30pm and films starting at 7.00pm. read more

A packed audience at Tickhill Music Society was privileged to hear an outstanding performance at their November concert by the Trio Martinu of Prague. The Trio has been together for 25 years and it showed in the rapport between violin, cello and piano. read more

Dukeries Soroptimist Club

Soroptimist International Club of the Dukeries was founded nearly 50 years ago, fundraising for local, national and international charities, particularly those supporting women and girls.  It is a small, friendly group of women, who meet regularly for social activities. The club holds monthly business meetings and also gets together for dinner meetings to listen to a wide range of interesting speakers, talking on some very diverse topics. read more

Citizens Advice Bassetlaw held their AGM on 27th November and celebrated 45 years of advice and support to the people of Bassetlaw. They are also very pleased to confirm that we have secured further funding from Macmillan. This means that they are able to continue to provide casework support on Welfare Benefits, for a further year, for those people in Bassetlaw affected by cancer, who don’t know where to turn when due to illness their income is adversely affected. read more
