A tribute to Doris Day
The production of the Doris Day Story by Nostalgia (Denise and Roger Marsden) took place on Tuesday 14th May at Carlton in Lindrick Methodist Church and Centre, just one day after Doris Day had sadly passed away. The show had been planned well before her sudden death as a tribute to Doris Day who had just had her 97th birthday in April.
It was a wonderfully well attended show. The audience joined in with all the old favourites, Moonlight Bay, By the Light of the Silvery Moon, Secret Love and Que Sera to name but a few. Everyone enjoyed tea and assorted cakes in the interval. There was a slide show of film trailers in which Doris had starred as well as a biography of Doris’s sometimes tragic life. This revealed that the bubbly smiley girl next door films that Doris made were sadly far from her tragic life.
There was a raffle and the proceeds of that were presented to Debbie Rawlings from Bassetlaw Hospice. Donations from the event went to the Carlton in Lindrick Methodist Church and Centre.
