It’s all about teamwork
Worksop Town FC and Barnsley Premier Leisure (BPL) have teamed up with the common goal of creating a healthier community! The new partnership was formed a year ago and has grown massively with BPL recently giving players free memberships in exchange for season tickets and, as a result, the squad has been attending multiple sites across Bassetlaw using Fitness Flex gym facilities as part of their training.
Niall Robertson, of Worksop Town football club says: “Worksop Town FC are delighted to be working with Barnsley Premier Leisure and we are looking forward to developing our partnership over the years to come.
“Firstly, as two entities in Worksop with such a strong focus on health and wellbeing, it seemed sensible for us to work together to promote a common goal of a healthier Worksop. BPL has provided our first team with memberships and we have given them season tickets to use as they see fit.
“The memberships which allow the lads to use BPL sites have been received with thanks by the players and coaching staff. With fitness playing such a key role in modern football, access to BPL top quality facilities is a perk not many football clubs are able to offer at NCEL. So hopefully, this is something that sets us apart from the crowd.”
Bassetlaw customer service advisor Nicky Boswell, believes the strengthened partnership will support healthy lifestyles throughout the community, for present and future generations: “We are hoping for the partnership to grow throughout the years, helping promote health and wellbeing. Tackling mental health is a project we hope to promote with the help of WTFC in 2019.’’
