Ollerton WI held their monthly meeting on 2nd November; once again it was very well attended. The speaker was Shirley Whitfield, giving a talk on ‘Hats and the Theatre’ and it was a very interesting and entertaining talk, the competition was ‘A Hat’ and was won by Jo Woodward. read more

The Arts Society Dukeries

St John’s Church, Carlton in Lindrick was busy all day on Thursday 12th October, when classes from both village schools helped launch a new Children’s Trail. The trail was created by a small group of volunteers from The Arts Society Dukeries and comprises a question sheet for the children and an answer sheet for the accompanying adult. It is designed for children aged eight to 12 with the aim of helping the children to look more carefully at the furnishings, fittings, art and history of this beautiful ancient building. read more

Tuxford Christmas Fair

Visit Santa and his live reindeer in his grotto at The Old Lock Up during the Tuxford Christmas Fair on Sunday 3rd December. The event will be held from 3.00pm to 6.30pm with the grand lights switch-on at 5.30pm. read more

Edwinstowe celebrates Charter of the Forest anniversary

The Charter of the Forest is a charter that re-established for free men, rights of access to the royal forest that had been eroded by William the Conqueror and his heirs. The 10-year old King Henry III originally sealed it in England in 1217. Many famous historians view this charter as the companion document to the Magna Carta. read more

Vulcan cockpit restoration

The South Yorkshire Aircraft Museum in Doncaster is currently undertaking the restoration of an Avro Vulcan cockpit which will, on completion, allow visitors guided cockpit tours on selected open days. read more
