Ollerton WI held their monthly meeting in April — it was nomination for committee and president, and members are pleased to say Donna Cumberlidge was voted in again for another year. Well done Donna. Bassetlaw Branch Parkinson’s UK

Four new members were warmly welcomed to the April meeting of the Bassetlaw branch of Parkinson’s UK, when the guest speaker was Tracy Simmons from Parkgate Mobility. Membership continues to grow as more people with Parkinson’s Disease in the area find friendship and support in the group. read more

Ollerton Jubilee Garden Club

Once again, Ollerton Jubilee Garden Club members rallied to produce a floriferous spectacle for their Spring Show. Although only seven members entered the classes, judge Robin Gray from Mansfield commented on how well the entries looked with a special mention for the flowering houseplants, which he thought were exceptional. read more

Daneshill Sailing Club

Daneshill Sailing Club are again taking part in the RYA Push The Boat Out event on Sunday 14th May, in which clubs and centres across the country play host to both seasoned sailors and beginners at over 350 locations across the UK. In the four years this event has been running, over 90,000 people have attended events with around 66,000 people taking to the water, some for the very first time. read more

Wellow Maypole Day

2017 has been designated as the ‘Year of the Village Green’ by the Open Spaces Society. What could be more traditional on a village green, than a maypole with children dancing around it? This much-loved custom will take place once more at Wellow on the late Spring Bank Holiday Monday 29th May, when the village hosts its annual Maypole Celebrations. read more

David spoke of his early days when he became a Christian, his business years as an estate agent, and of his own pride and joy in his family. read more

Boughton Art Group is a small group of amateur artists that meet on Monday every week, except bank holidays, at Walesby Village Hall. The group have professional artists come to hold workshops usually one evening per month and another artist to do a full day workshop once a month. read more

The Friends of Bassetlaw Museum have organised an interesting talk entitled ‘Talking Stock’, to be held on Wednesday 17th May at 7.30pm. The talk is to be held in the Grove Street Methodist Church Hall, Retford. There will be an admission charge of £2 for members and £4 for non-members. read more
