Ollerton WI

In February, Ollerton WI held their ‘Social Meeting’ so there was no speaker and they entertained themselves with games and competitions. The committee organised the supper and it was a great evening. Their meeting in March will feature speaker Lucinda Kitchen talking about ‘Thailand — land of smiles’ and the competition will be ‘something that makes you smile’. There will also be nominations for a new committee. read more

The Arts Society Dukeries

The meeting on Wednesday 6th March, of The Arts Society Dukeries will be a lecture by Neil Faulkner on ‘Lawrence of Arabia: Excavating a Legend’. On the basis of sensational new evidence from archaeological fieldwork, Neil will contrast the legend of Lawrence of Arabia with the true story of what happened in the famous desert war of 1916 to 1918. Knit and Natter Group

Knit and Natter Group

Please join the friendly Knit and Natter Group on the first Tuesday of every month at 2.30pm at the Methodist Church, Forest Road, Ollerton. They knit and crochet items for charity or the local community. Tea and biscuits are provided. You can also do your own knitting and crochet and wool and needles are provided if needed. read more

Members and friends of Ollerton Jubilee Gardening Club gathered to welcome the speaker, Pam Tatum, of Hall Farm Gardens, Harpswell, near Gainsborough, who was making a return visit to the club in February. Her talk had the intriguing title ‘Combinations, underwear and a few suspenders’. read more

If you were one of the 29 pioneering girls who made local Gang Show history back in 1969, then Girlguiding Nottinghamshire would love to hear from you! Rehearsals are currently underway for the 2019 Nottingham Gang Show, which is due to run at the city’s Theatre Royal from 4th to 9th March. read more

You are invited to join the Lavender Craft Club at Perlethorpe Village Hall, for a beginners’ felting session on Saturday 2nd March. The group was created with the idea of bringing together people from all backgrounds, who have a love of learning, who would like to make more like-minded friends and, most importantly a desire to craft. read more

At the meeting of Bassetlaw Cardiac Support Group on Friday 1st February at The Crossing, speaker Debbie Singh-Bhati talked to members about her ‘once in a lifetime’ holiday in India and meeting with her extensive family. She shared her experiences and wonderful photographs of places most of them have never seen. read more

Hope you all had a great holiday. Ollerton WI’s speaker in January was Rachel Cook, giving a talk about ‘Sherwood Yarns’. In February they are having a social evening and a games night, which should be fun.  The group is so busy again this year and members have once again started rehearsals for their panto, which this year is Snow White and the Six Gnomes. read more
