It is easy to see why Fracking companies chose the sites they did to start drilling. In the north, the Bowland basin is their best option for a high yield. Similarly in the south the Weald basin is attractive because of the Kimmeridge Clay, and Coralian formations. read more

Citizens Advice has responded to the government’s announcement that it will consult on scrapping section 21 ‘no-fault’ evictions in the private rented sector. Gillian Guy, Chief Executive of Citizens Advice, said: “Scrapping no-fault evictions is a ground-breaking shake-up of the private rented sector and will better protect the almost five million households who live in it. read more

The Inner Wheel Club of Sherwood Forest celebrated Inner Wheel Day at President Pat’s home, by enjoying a lovely lunch before filling Joy and Toy bags for the National Police Convoy. A huge bag of stamps appeared, it was not a case of knit and natter but trim and natter. read more

Bob Massey was Bassetlaw Cardiac Support Group’s speaker on Friday 3rd April. He reflected on the changing times since children were sent ‘up the flue’ and the hardship facing large families when they would sell a boy child for seven shillings (up to four guineas in some circumstances). read more

Ollerton WI held their May meeting which once again was very well attended. Their speaker was Amy Ripley who gave a talk about tropic skin care with a difference and the competition was a recipe for skincare and was won by Jenny Bryant. read more

Knit and Natter Group

Knit and Natter Group

On the first Tuesday of every month at 2.30pm, join the friendly Knit and Natter Group. This is held in the school room of the Methodist Church, Forest Road, Ollerton. They knit and crochet items for charity and our local community. Tea and biscuits are provided. You can also do your own knitting and crochet and wool and needles are provided if needed. read more
