Glorious open gardens in June

Did you know that the National Garden Scheme donated £3 million pounds last year to charitable beneficiaries, this money was raised by the tireless efforts of individual garden owners generously opening their gardens for the public to enjoy. The garden entry fee and monies raised from the sale of refreshments all go towards the funds.
The local gardens for you to visit in June are:

The Echium Garden
Walled Garden, Thoresby Park NG22 9EP
Saturday 1st June, 12.00pm to 4.00pm
Home to the National Collection of Echiums, including a giant 14 foot giant tree echium, housed in a corner of the partially restored five acred walled kitchen garden at Thoresby Park. Herbaceous borders with heritage plants. Interesting and unusual garden. Dog friendly, parking, plants for sale and refreshments.

Broadlea
North Green, East Drayton, Retford DN22 0LF
Sunday 2nd June, 2.00pm to 5.00pm
Large country garden with year round interest and wildlife focussed. Woodland walk, large pond, kitchen garden and wild bank and dyke, many perennials, shrubs and spring bulbs. Part wheelchair access, plants for sale, refreshments.

The Old Vicarage
Halam Hill, Halam NG22 8AX
Saturday 22nd June, 12.00pm to 4.30pm
Undulating country garden filled with unusual plants and trees. Peaceful setting in which to enjoy the tranquility of the garden and admire the artful design and planting. Beautiful 12th century church open in the village. Dog friendly, plants for sale, parking, refreshments.

The Poplars
60 High Street, Sutton on Trent NG23 6QA
Sunday 9th June, 1.00pm to 5.00pm
Walled garden with a series of garden rooms, each with its own character. Black and white area, pond, oriental style gravel garden. Woodland area, fernery and thatched shack. Dog friendly, plants for sale, refreshments.

Whitwell Open Gardens
High Street, Whitwell, Worksop S80 4QZ (eight gardens)
Sunday 23rd June, 2.00pm to 5.00pm
Eight diverse and interesting gardens, opening together demonstrate how different gardens can be, from a small front garden to traditional cottage gardens and wildlife friendly gardens within the lovely village of Whitwell, close to Creswell Crags. Dog friendly, plants for sale, refreshments.

Beesthorpe Hall Farm
Caunton NG23 6AT
Sunday 30th June, 1.00pm to 5.00pm
Large country garden full of exciting planting and including an extensive ecologically designed, unique gravel garden. Walk through wildflower meadow to large pond. Plants for sale, refreshments.

East Markham Open Gardens
Church Street, East Markham NG22 0SA (four gardens)
Sunday 30th June, 1.00pm to 5.00pm
Four contrasting gardens in the lovely village of East Markham, including an exquisite cottage garden, an extensive Manor House garden, a contemporary wrap around garden and a fascinating exotic garden. Wheelchair access, parking, plants for sale, refreshments.

Norwell Gardens
Newark NG23 6JX (eight gardens)
Sunday 30th June, 1.00pm to 5.00pm
Open for 23 years for the National Garden Scheme the village of Norwell boasts some fabulous gardens and vibrant allotments all making superb use of the beautiful backdrop of a quintessential English village. Wheelchair access, National Plant Collection, parking, plants for sale, refreshments.
