Dukeries 3rd Age Group

10th June 2019
The Dukeries Third Age Group

Meetings for the Dukeries 3rd Age Group are held on the third Monday of every month Jubilee Hall, Wellow Road, Ollerton. Their speaker for the meeting at on 17th June at 1.00pm, will be Alan Gray MBE. Alan Gray is an ex Wimbledon Umpire and his talk is entitled ‘You cannot be serious!’.

The presentation at the April meeting was entitled ‘Fools Gold’. This was an excellent performance by a couple playing various instruments and singing songs relating to the River Tyne. The story started from the source of the Tyne going out to the sea. It covered folk tales and the history of the area covering various characters and events eg. ‘The Jarrow March’. The presentation was complemented by slides relating to this very humorous presentation.

The Dukeries 3rd Age Group is open to anyone who is over 50 years of age and who is retired or semi-retired. As a visitor you are invited to attend two general meetings at £1.00 each time. In addition, you may make two visits to two different groups (for the appropriate fee, if one is to be paid) to see if they are of interest to you. After the ‘taster’, you must join the Dukeries 3rd Age Group to take part in any future activities. A warm welcome is extended to all people who are interested.
