Braithwell Yorkshire Countyrwomen’s Association ladies had amazing results in the handicraft section of the recent Tockwith Show — 14 firsts, seven seconds, 11 thirds and two highly commended — and for the first time were awarded the cup for the branch with the most points. read more

Wickersley needs you

Wickersley Community Centre and Library

Wickersley Community Centre and Library are successfully through to the voting stage of a grant application and now need to generate public votes to get to the final panel for the funding; which is to purchase solar panels to decrease overall costs along with having a positive environmental impact.

They are asking Rotherham Life readers for their votes to get them through to get the grant. Please ask people, their friends and relatives to vote before 6th September at www.foundation.onefamily.com/projects/wickersley-community-centre-association/.

The Community Centre has also been successful to getting through to the voting stage of an M&S grant. Voting opens on 4th September and closes on 20th October and more details are available at www.mandsenergyfund.com.

At the last meeting before the summer break, Braithwell Yorkshire Countrywomen Association had a change to the advertised speaker. Due to a last-minute cancellation, members were given an impromptu and very interesting talk by one of the members on ‘Living with Osteoporosis’. read more

Disabled user-led groups in Rotherham speak

Volunteers from various disabled user led groups from all over Rotherham met on Wednesday 28th June at Springwell Gardens Community Centre to discuss ways to work together to share information, improve communication and lobby statutory authorities to deliver on their Duty of Care for the Disabled. read more

In June 2017, Rotherham College’s students celebrated their success at the Student Award Ceremonies. Naomi Hall, studying Access to Nursing and GCSE Maths, was especially pleased to discover she had won the Maltby Lions Club Award for Student of the Year. read more
