Rotherham Symphony Orchestra

12th June 2019
Rotherham Symphony Orchestra

Rotherham Symphony Orchestra are currently adding the ‘finishing touches’ to their summer concert taking place on Saturday 15th June at Rotherham Minster. With student performer numbers at their highest since the orchestra formed almost two years ago, this concert will see a student harpist and full student percussion section amongst student violinists, woodwind and brass players. The programme, including Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet overture and Saint Saens’ Danse Macabre, will be a light and recognisable mix of classical favourites.

The RSO committee pride themselves on encouraging and nurturing young talent, with many senior orchestra members having progressed through Rotherham Music bands and string groups themselves, before studying music at degree and post graduate levels. With a fabulous programme to look forward to in their ‘proms’ style concert on Friday 6th September at Rotherham Civic, they would like to encourage any students with grade 6 or above to come to see the orchestra perform and attend a trial rehearsal on Sunday 14th July. Please contact to book a place for 14th July. New adult players also welcome. Please be aware that woodwind and brass places are limited and players may need to be added to waiting lists.

Tickets for 15th June concert at Rotherham Minster can be purchased at and cost adults £10.00, concessions £5.00 (plus booking fee).
