Staples Dance Academy

Once again, Staples Dance Academy will be bringing the talents of its current and past pupils to the Majestic Theatre for one incredible performance. This year, on 31st March at 5.00pm, they are presenting a Dance and Musical Theatre Spectacular, featuring a stunning range of solos, duets, trios and group dances showcasing ballet, tap, modern, jazz and musical theatre. read more

Rotary Club donations

Rotary Club of Retford

Healthcare within the local community was to the fore when the Rotary Club of Retford made three recent donations.
The Bollywood Ball last November realised £18,700. From this, £6,500 was given to both the Bassetlaw Hospice and Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice. Chairman of the ball committee, Past President Paul Withers, presented the cheques to Ian Hall, Charity Administrator at the Bassetlaw Hospice, and Marion Slingsby on behalf of Bluebell Wood. read more

Now in its ninth year, the Retford branch of the U3A has a membership of nearly 600 people. There are around 45 interest groups and new members often join the U3A specifically to join just one group, this is really encouraged, so if you have a friend who is thinking of joining or looking for something to do, maybe they are the organisation to join. read more

Hospice’s support group looks forward

Retford Support Group for Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice

In January, the Retford Support Group for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice had its annual planning meeting. It is a small but active group who have been raising money for Bluebell Wood for more than 15 years. Trends change and the group will be trying new ideas but there are always the popular events which they are happy to organise again and which they hope will be fun for everyone. read more

Harworth Christie Organ Enthusiasts hold a monthly dance and concert, usually on the last weekend of every month (dancing on the Saturday evening, with a concert on Sunday afternoon) and are inviting visitors to join them. read more

Beetle Drive and Pancake Party

Saturday 2nd March is Beetle Drive and Pancake Party time at Ordsall in the Parish Hall on Church Lane at 6.30pm.
Roll those dice, the faster the better, and enjoy the pancakes cooked fresh by the cooking team. Like last year a good time will be had by all, provided of course you go along. read more

Bridge players of all levels of experience are invited to Retford Bridge Club on Tuesday 26th February, for a relaxed game of duplicate bridge. A limited number of hands will be played and there will be a coffee break of about 15 minutes. No partner is required as one will be found on the evening if you come alone. read more

When Sutton cum Lound Gardening Club met on Tuesday 4th December in Barnby Moor Village Hall, it was a seasonal event with a table decoration/swag and wreath making session. The group were soon busy making their own creations, under the watchful eye of demonstrator Sally Barker, the guest for the evening. read more
