Lifesaving and bike ride

Do you know what to do if someone collapses? Cardiac failure can be fatal and affects all ages. The chance of survival is greatly increased when correct treatment is applied promptly. Retford Lions, working with Bassetlaw District Council, will provide two free training sessions for the public in Retford Town Hall, at 1.00pm and 7.00pm on Thursday 21st March. Training explains how to use defibrillators available in public places. But a defibrillator only helps when blood to the brain has been maintained by the application of CPR, so this simple technique will be taught too.

Training lasts 90 minutes and is led by a nurse who is a Lion, using equipment provided by the British Heart Foundation. 300 people have already been trained; all have found it useful and enjoyable.

We hope we will never face such emergency. But if your loved one collapsed you would need to know what to do. To book a place at the training call Bruce on 01777 704154.

LIONS BIKE RIDE

Lunch is available at the half way checkpoint and Lions will be supporting stages along routes. Proceeds are to support Retford Lions’ continued community work which is almost at 40 years of service.
