The Old Nick welcomes back Adam Carter as Elvis on Friday 25th January. Adam has a long history as the foremost Elvis impersonator in the UK having won the Granada TV’s ‘Stars in Their Eyes’ and now endorsed as the UK’s official Elvis Presley tribute show by the King Elvis Fan Club which is officially affiliated with Graceland Enterprises. read more

The Misterton Bowls Club held its annual presentation evening on 3rd December at the Ferry House, East Stockwith. Winners of the male and female competitions were Brian Haigh and Freda Allsopp, who received their trophies from Misterton parish counsellor Hazel Brand. read more

At the Marton Academy, the children have been learning all about plastic and how damaging it can be to the environment. They wanted to remind everyone about the damage that it can cause, so they have created two different sculptures using plastic bottles and other plastic waste. read more

Four-time Olympic medallist delivers to Benjamin Adlard pupils after banner competition win

A pupil from West Lindsey has won the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to take part in a swimming lesson delivered by four-time Olympic medallist, Becky Adlington. Everyone Active supported Swim England’s national Big School Swim campaign by joining forces with Becky Adlington SwimStars to invite primary school children from across the country to submit an original design for their very own swim hat. read more

Volunteering with the RSPCA

RSPCA Doncaster and Rotherham

Volunteers are crucial to the operation of the RSPCA Doncaster, Rotherham and District Branch, helping in the shops, caring for animals rescued from cruelty, driving RSPCA vehicles, tending to the grounds or fundraising.
Catherine is a regular volunteer who has helped at the Animal Centre on the Great North Road, near Bawtry, for six years. It was her love of animals that encouraged her to volunteer for the RSPCA. read more

The award-winning organisation Gainsborough Musical Theatre Society are having a taster evening for their next summer show ‘Sister Act’ on Thursday 17th January, and anyone who is interested in joining them are welcome to go along. This evening will include singing through songs from the show, watching clips from the Broadway version and society members will be on hand to answer any questions you might have going forward about the show or the society. read more

The Lincoln branch of Lincolnshire Family History Society is starting the new year with two new speakers to them. Joanne Major and Sarah Murdon are Lincoln based co-authors who met via an online genealogy forum and accidentally discovered the history of an 18th century courtesan which resulted in three historical biographies. The genealogists’ hobby has led to a research and writing career. read more
