The 15 Group Lincoln Royal Observer Corps

The 15 Group Lincoln Royal Observer Corps (ROC) Association, to which Gainsborough’s Bill Warwick is a member, is marking one year since they had installed a memorial stone for Jack Kelway ROC. The ROC, founded in 1925, was known as the eyes and ears of the RAF and came under Fighter Command up to the Nuclear age around 1970, when the organisation went underground to monitor radioactive fallout until 1995, when the Observer Corps ceased duties. read more

The award- winning society GMTS are returning to bring you all Christmas cheer as they present Sleeping Beauty!
We have teamed up with GMTS to offer our readers the chance to win a family ticket (two adults and two children) to see the performance on Thursday 6th December at 7.00pm. Simply email your details to competitions@gainsboroughlife.com.

A fun filled, family pantomime to start your Christmas celebrations off in style. With all the usual characters to get you cheering in the aisles, to the evil Carabosse who does everything she can to bring down the Princess Beauty. Will the Prince finally get his Beauty? Will Carabosse get her comeuppance? Come and find out. This is a panto you don’t want to miss! (Oh no you don’t)

The show runs from Wednesday 5th December to Sunday 9th December, with performances at 7.00pm from Wednesday to Saturday evenings and Sunday Matinee at 2.00pm. Tickets are £12.00 for adults and £10.00 for children.

Leisure Centre launches Active Senior Programme

A local leisure centre has launched its Active Senior Programme on Monday to engage senior residents in its community to take up physical activity. The scheme, designed by Everyone Active in partnership with West Lindsey Leisure Centre, offers a wide variety of activity sessions, which are conducted at a suitable pace and feature much lower impact exercises. read more

Visit the Heritage Centre’s new current exhibition for free and find out more about the effect of WWI on the people and families of Gainsborough. The exhibition will focus on personal communications such as postcards and letters between loved ones as well as local newspaper reports that recorded thoughts, messages and news from the front. read more

Annual Fireworks and Bonfire

Rotary Club of Gainsborough

Now in its 20th year, the annual Rotary Club of Gainsborough Bonfire and Firework Display will be held at Lea Park on Saturday 3rd November, from 5.30pm to 8.00pm. The 2018 display promises to be the biggest and the best for miles around, with a colossal £3,500 spent on fireworks and one tonne of wood to burn donated by Lindum Construction. read more

Advice Service for rural communities

It has been over two years since Citizens Advice Lindsey launched its Rural Advice Service with funding from the Big Lottery Fund, Reaching Communities offering generalist and specialist advice to rural communities throughout the West Lindsey region of Lincolnshire. The service is now offering free, confidential advice at Caistor, Market Rasen, Saxilby and Welton. read more
