Northern Soul Night

The next Northern Soul and Motown Night at The Weston Rooms, Gainsborough, will be on Saturday 7th March. It will be 7.00pm until midnight, with all music on vinyl records. Get in early as the last event was really busy. Admission is only £3.00, pay on the door. read more

Local resident set for charity shark swim

Gainsborough Life reader Emma Farrington is taking on a daring charity challenge in April — she will be swimming with sharks to raise money for The James Bulger Memorial Trust. Emma, who used to live in the Merseyside area where James Bulger was abducted, chose the worthwhile charity as a beneficiary when deciding to set herself a series of challenges as part of her New Year’s Resolutions. read more

Lacemaker to speak at textiles group meeting

North Notts Creative Textiles Group

Jan Retford is a qualified local lacemaker specialising in Pillow Lace. She is the guest speaker at the next meeting of the North Notts Creative Textiles Group on Wednesday 6th March at 7.00pm at the Goodwin Hall, Retford.
She will give a short talk and demonstration of her craft and show examples of a range of hand-made lace. Visitors are very welcome. read more

All are invited to take part in the World Day of Prayer service to be held at the United Reformed Church, Gladstone Street, Gainsborough on Friday 1st March at 11.00am. Prepared by the women of the Slovenian World Day of Prayer committee, the service is entitled ‘Come — Everything is Ready’. read more

Inflatable Colour Dash

St Barnabas Lincolnshire Hospice have announced that their popular Inflatable Colour Dash will be returning to the Lincolnshire Showground, on Saturday 11th May 2019. Last year thousands of people were showered in colourful powder paint and together raised more than £130,000 for local hospice care. read more

Gainsborough and District Flower Club meets on the fourth Thursday of every month, at the Blues Club, North Street, Gainsborough DN21 2HU, start time 7.15pm. They have had a break during December and January and their 2019 programme starts on 28th February with a floral demonstration by Di Smith. They welcome visitors, for whom there is a small charge of £5.00. read more
