Gainsborough Heritage Centre
Gainsborough Heritage Centre has recently refurbished the research library to enhance the space and make resources more readily available for family and local history researchers. So, make sure you pop in and see what more the research library has to offer in the Centre’s 25th anniversary year.
This month also sees the Centre’s new temporary exhibitions with a new collection on display that was recently donated to the Heritage Archives showcasing the story of a local Gainsborough family. The Browning family includes stories of family members who worked at the local firm of Roses in the town.
Alongside the Browning family, another new exhibition explores medical equipment that nurses and doctors would have used to help treat their patients in years gone by. The objects were owned by different district nurses who worked in the Gainsborough area. The items donated to the Heritage Centre are shown in this special exhibition and you can have a go at guessing the different uses of some of these interesting looking items that might make you go “ahhhh”!
Visit the Telephone Exchange tea room and enjoy a lovely range of refreshments including a variety of delicious cakes on offer. The Centre’s tea room is open every Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday and all proceeds raised from the sale of refreshments help to continue the development of the Heritage Centre.
The Centre and Exchange tea room are open every Tuesday, from 10.00am to 4.00pm, Saturday 10.00am to 4.00pm and Sunday 11.00am to 4.00pm.
